So, we've discussed about what a Stretch Tent is and the terms that would be helpful to understand (if you've not read it and are interested, head over to our discover page to find out more), but what about our Clearspan Marquees?
Clearspan Marquees are another great option consider for your outdoor event, whether it's a wedding, corporate event, party or festival. They're classic, practical and the interior can be customised to suit the type of event and your personal asthetic choices.
So let's start off with What is a Clearspan Marquee?
A clearspan marquee is basically a metal frame with material covering the frame. What makes them the timeless choice is that they are modular, which allows flexibility in their size. We can increase the size of your marquee in relatively small increments as your guest list and needs change on the run up to your event. They also have no internal poles or columns, which means the entire space you have inside is usable and unobstructed.
They can have both a curved roof and pointed roof as pictured below.
The metal frame is then covered in weatherproof material - making them durable in rain, winds etc. These are the best solution for all year round outdoor events - add a heater or two and your outdoor event can take place even in the middle of a British winter.
Clearspan marquees are usually white, but we do have chino option available as well, which pairs really well with our stretch tents.
Bays
As mentioned above, our clearspan marquees are modular, which means you can keep adding sections onto the marquee to increase it's size. These sections are called bays and usually are usually in 3m increments.
Linings
What makes clearspan marquees special and really gives the wow factor is how you can customise the interior. You can hide the metal frame inside the marquee by opting for linings, which is material that can be hung from the roof and down the walls - you can see some options available below.
No Linings
Without linings you can see the metal structure of the marquee. This is the most cost effective way to get a covering for your event and is perfect is you're looking for something more relaxed, having a festival or are just looking for a bit of shelter. It can also act as a blank canvas if you're wanting to do something a bit different - we've had army netting, draping or just a fairylighting canopy in the past!
Ivory Linings
Perfect for a white wedding, formal dinner or a special occasion, the ivory linings not only hide the metal framework, but also create an effortless glamour.
Starcloth Linings
Our starcloth linings are black material to cover the metal frame work, but with a twist. It is dotted with small LED lights, which creates a starlight effect.
You can combine both the ivory linings and starcloth linings in one marquee. This is a popular choice - ivory linings over the dining area and starcloth linings over the dancefloor for when the party really starts!
Walls and Windows
Down the sides of the marquee you can either have solid walls or windows. Theses both can be opened and used for entrances or ventilation as needed.
Stakes
As with any other temporary structure, to ensure safety we have to make sure the marquee is securly grounded. We do this using stakes hammered into the ground where possible. Where this is not possible, for example on tarmac or patios we can either drill and fix (we drill a hole into the ground to be able to stake the structure down and then fix the hole back to normal when the event is finished) or use weights.
PVC
You may overhear us talking about PVC - this is just the name of the material that is used for the roof, gables, walls and windows that cover the metal frame. This is usually in white although, as mentioned above, we do also have a chino option in our catalogue to pair with our stretch tents. This is particularly popular as a catering space.
